Exercise trends come and go. Some of us remember when people actually wore leotards to workout.
Gym instructors will get you to try out new things. It doesn’t seem long since every gym workout featured a ViPR move – but now those PVC pipe are more likely to be gathering dust than gathering sweat.
Gym equipment changes with the seasons. You never see those abductor/adductor machines any more, where you flapped your legs open and closed like oversized bellows.
But there’s one thing that’s NEVER all right to do in the gym.
Peeing your pants.
If your instructor is telling you to jump higher, run faster, hold your breath and push, and it makes you leak pee – or feel like you might leak pee at any second – IT’S NOT ALL RIGHT.
Black leggings may hide it. Pads may give you the confidence to keep going.
But peeing your pants in the gym is NOT AN ACCEPTABLE TRADE-OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS OFF YOUR FASTEST MILE OR A FEW MORE KG ON YOUR HEAVIEST WEIGHT.
If your pelvic floor causes you concern, saps your confidence or stops you working out the way you want, YOU CAN FIX IT.
You don’t need to accept it as a fact of life.
When your pelvic floor is strong, you can move with more confidence, get more out of your gym work and do more of what you want.
